Aside from the fill power, the cleanliness ratings are important. Some people find that they are allergic to the down or feathers, but it may be because of a low cleanliness factor rather than the feathers or down.
There are two cleanliness ratings, the oxygen test and the turbidity test.
The oxygen test indicates the extent of organic matter that is left in the comforter after the washing has been done. The oxygen test rating must be 10 or below. The lower this number, it is better
The turbidity test indicates the extent of suspended soils that are in the material used to make the down comforters. The turbidity rating for a ability down comforter should be 550 or higher.
